We are a competitive and social ballroom and latin dance club at UC Riverside. We offer classes, workshops, practices, and events every quarter to provide instruction and dance opportunities to students, faculty, staff, and to the Riverside community.
Membership Cost
- $20 per quarter (what a deal!)
- Free trial lesson: come to your first lesson for free with no obligation to join.
Membership Benefits
- Admission to weekly group lessons (nine 2-hour lessons every quarter)
- Free entry into the UCR Student Recreation Center for these lessons
- Admission to weekly coached practices and student practices
- Free or subsidized payment to compete at competitions and attend social events (as club budget allows)
Who Can Join?
- Membership is open to all UCR students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates.
- UCR Leisure Line classes are also available to all students and to the general public. The fee is not included in Club Membership.
- No partner or experience required!
How to Join?
Come 15 minutes early to any group lesson or practice and pay your membership dues to the club officer on duty. Check our Events Calendar for the next coming lesson.
Competitions
Participation in competitions is optional, but with the club you will have the opportunity to compete against other colleges and universities. Dancesport at UCR also sponsors the annual Orange Blossom Ball. Competitors at all dance levels are encouraged to participate, from under 3 months of dancing experience (Green) to seasoned veterans (Silver, Gold, and beyond). In the past, members of the team have competed at the USA Dance National Championships, CalTech, Stanford, UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, University of Las Vegas, and at the Golden State Amateur Challenge.

What is Ballroom Dancing?
The term "ballroom dancing" refers to any of a number of dances involving figures (series of steps) that a dancer performs with a partner. Some examples include Waltz, Tango, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa, and Swing.
What is Dancesport?
The term "dancesport" refers to competitive ballroom dancing. Dances are categorized into two main styles: International-style and American-style. Getting Started
Attending one of our beginner ballroom dance classes is the best way to learn the basics of ballroom dance. However, if you're interested in getting a head start or want to brush up on moves you have already learned, BallroomDancers.com has an excellent collection of online videos to help you with the basic steps of several dances.
